Daniel E. Thompson, MD
His early interest in mechanics and technology combined with a love for working with people led Dr. Daniel Thompson into the field of orthopaedics. Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, Dr. Thompson earned a BS in Biomechanical Engineering from Stanford University in Stanford, California, and then earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson. He completed both his general surgery internship and orthopaedic residency at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC.
From the first office visit through surgery, Dr. Thompson enjoys providing meticulous patient care. He is particularly adept at restoring people’s function through surgical reconstruction or joint replacement. His special interests within orthopaedics include cartilage restoration procedures, arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, joint replacement, and adult and pediatric trauma.
As an active participant in research projects throughout medical school and residency, Dr. Thompson was a recipient of multiple scholarships and was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Thompson’s wife Julie is a Landscape Architect, and they are the proud parents of 5 children. The Thompsons are involved in their neighborhood church and enjoy swimming, tennis, skiing, and travel. Dr. Thompson and his wife have enjoyed medical mission work in Cameroon and Belize.
