As Northern Virginia's leading orthopaedic group practice, Commonwealth Orthopaedics is dedicated to providing quality care to patients with a full continuum of musculoskeletal services. To achieve this goal, not only do our physicians bring a wealth of expertise and experience to their patients but they enjoy being actively involved and supporting their communities.

Our Physicians Support their Communities

Our Physicians Support Local Schools

Commonwealth Orthopaedics, The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, Depuy Mitek, Inc. and Safe Kids teamed up to educate more than 100 Sterling Middle School students on injury prevention, physical fitness and concussion safety at the Redskins Play 60-Mini-Combine at Redskins Park.

Sports Team Physicians

As active members of their local community, many of our physicians serve as team physicians for professional, collegiate and area high school athletic teams. Many also serve as coaches, in youth athletics, as leaders in civic organizations and as volunteers for medical missions and other nonprofit causes. To see what teams that our physicians are associated with and to read more about them, choose from the menu below. For a complete listing of the area high schools and their team physicians go here.

Education

Casting At Commonwealth Orthopaedics, employee and patient health and safety are a top priority. Our staff is required to be certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. We provide the most current training as often as needed. We hold annual OSHA updates to keep our staff current on safety standards as well.

Our most recent in-service was held on May 7, 2011. More than 25 orthopaedic and ortho/xray techs met at the Herndon Outpatient Surgery Center for a 3-hour in-service on casting techniques. The training was conducted by Dr. Madden and Bobbi Charlesworth, RTR, OTR of the Reston office. Dr. Madden is a founding member of Commonwealth Orthopaedics and serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of our Board of Directors. Bobbi is a member of the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists (NAOT) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia chapter of NAOT. In addition to the presentation by Dr. Madden and Bobbi, all the staff had an opportunity to apply and remove a short arm cast and observed short leg cast application.
